Official Grad Student

July 11, 2015/Blog/2 Comments

I feel very official today because I registered for classes! [1. For the autumn quarter]

Classes I am taking:

LIS 500: The Question of Information
LIS 570: Research Methods
INFX 501: Algorithmic Thinking

I’m hoping to take more computer science classes as well, even though I’m a library & information sciences major. The UW offers computer science classes for non-majors, so I’m going to try talking to an adviser about it, when I have the time.

Also, I really felt like I made the right choice because I recently discovered that it’s smart for librarians to learn how to code and/or program. Strange how everything falls into place so nicely.

Things I’ve Learned During Sunday School

June 1, 2015/Blog/1 Comment

So the last day of Sunday school is June 7th. Although I’m not sure I’ll be doing it again next year, I am going to be doing summer camp. Since the year is drawing to a close, and it was my first year as a Sunday school teacher, I decided to write down all the things I’ve learned.

Originally, I was supposed to be a teacher’s assistant. But the main teacher ended up going through some really hard times the beginning half of the year, so unexpectedly, I ended up being the main teacher for the rest of the year.

When I first made the decision to be a Sunday school teacher, I chose to do it because I’ve always been inside my bubble. I’m sure a lot of introverts and those who find social situations awkward will understand but just because I’m quiet and socially awkward, didn’t mean I wanted to be sitting around doing nothing.

Being Quiet is a Choice

May 8, 2015/Blog/0 Comments

I’ve been reading this sentence so many times in so many different books that it is starting to feel a bit cliche but the less you say, the less of a fool you are or there’s no one who made a fool out of themselves by not saying anything at all. And even though I see it everywhere, I find myself agreeing.

I find the more I open my mouth, the more stupid things I seem to say and embarrass myself. Maybe this is one of the reasons why I don’t say much of anything at all. This is veering off topic but I was considering deleting my blog. I realized that I am not very good at managing money and I figured I should cut expenses that I don’t really need.

I don’t need a blog.

I want a blog.
